Ethics and Best Practice

At our cattery, breeding is a labor of love, responsibility, and dedication. We believe that producing healthy, confident, and well-adjusted kittens requires an uncompromised commitment to animal welfare, rigorous health screening, and a nurturing home environment.

Whether you are looking for a show prospect or a beloved family companion, here is how we uphold the highest standards of care for every cat in our home cattery.

1.Home Raised with Love &Socialization

Our cats and kittens are full members of our family. We do not keep our breeding cats or litters in outdoor runs or isolated cattery blocks; they are born and raised directly inside our home.

  • Early Household Exposure: From day one, our kittens are accustomed to the everyday sounds, sights, and routines of a busy household—from vacuum cleaners and household noises to human handling and gentle play.
  • Temperament First: Raising kittens underfoot ensures they grow into outgoing, affectionate, and resilient adult cats who transition smoothly into their new forever homes.

2.Rigorous Health Testing & Selective Pairings

We place health and genetic stability at the very heart of our breeding program. Every mating decision is made with intention and meticulous planning.

  • Comprehensive Health Screening: All of our breeding queens and studs are tested clear for relevant breed-specific genetic conditions, as well as infectious diseases (including FeLV/FIV).
  • Thoughtful Matchmaking: We evaluate pedigrees carefully to select pairings that enhance the breed standard while prioritizing structural soundness, genetic diversity, low inbreeding coefficients, and outstanding temperaments.

3.Strict Hygiene & Disease Control

Maintaining a clean, sanitary environment is fundamental to raising strong, healthy litters and protecting sensitive young immune systems.

  • Sanitation Protocols: Whelping areas, litter trays, bedding, and bowls are cleaned and disinfected multiple times daily using veterinary-grade, pet-safe products.
  • Preventative Care: All adult cats are kept up to date on core vaccinations, routine health check-ups, and parasite prevention schedules.

4.Adherence to GCCF & TICA Standards

We take pride in holding registrations with both The Governing Council of the Cat Fancy (GCCF) and The International Cat Association (TICA), adhering strictly to their codes of ethics and breeding guidelines.

  • The 13-Week Rule: In line with GCCF regulations, our kittens never leave us before 13 weeks of age. This extra time with Mum and littermates is vital for proper maternal socialization, immune development, and psychological stability.
  • Complete Care Package: Before leaving for their new homes, every kitten receives:
    • A full course of core vaccinations (given at 9 and 12 weeks)
    • At least two comprehensive veterinary health examinations
    • Microchipping
    • GCCF and/or TICA registration paperwork (non-active/pet contract unless agreed otherwise)
    • A 5-generation pedigree certificate
    • 4–5 weeks of complimentary pet insurance

5.Gentle Weaning & Lifelong Gut Health

A cat’s lifelong health starts in the gut. We take an exceptionally gentle approach during the weaning window (4 to 8 weeks) to protect their delicate digestive system and build a resilient microbiome.

  • Gentle Dietary Transitions: We introduce solid foods gradually, pacing transitions carefully to prevent digestive stress or chronic gut inflammation.
  • High-Quality Nutrition: Our kittens are raised on a species-appropriate, highly digestible diet—including fresh gently cooked meals (KatKin) alongside premium dry kibble (Royal Canin)—offered in separate dishes to promote gut stability and dietary flexibility.

6.A Lifelong Commitment to Our Kitten Buyers

Our responsibility as breeders does not end on collection day. We offer lifetime support to every family adopting one of our kittens. We are always here to answer questions about nutrition, behavior, or health as your kitten matures, and we love staying in touch as they grow!
